How do you switch out shifter knobs on a mini cooper withoout damaging it at all, whatsoever?
I have an 02 mini cooper and work at a BMW/MINI dealership but I don't feel like paying or want to listen to anyones bs about buying a shifter knob from there yada yada yada. I have heard of just pulling but I want to make sure it doesn't get damaged because we will be selling the car in a few months. I just need a smaller knob so I can fit my iPod fm transmitter more easily. When I go into first it hits my transmitter. Any pictures or details will be greatly appreciated.
If it's like the shift knob on a BMW you just pull stright up

for a 2004 Mini Cooper (non S) What is the best way to play your iPod through the speakers?
I use a Belkin iPod adapter that plugs into the cigarette lighter socket. It is universal for all cars and all types of iPods. With the push of a button, this frequency is Clearest FM and all you have to do is set your radio to this frequency and the boom you're good to go with a surprisingly clear sound. This thing has a cradle for the iPod and the expenses while being played. I love it! Here is the link: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8580564&type=product&id=1190676637095

You've taken the plunge and decided to buy a Mini Cooper. Congratulations! Youâ € ™ ll love it. The only question is which model you go with? If you are choosing between the basic model and the "S" version, you must understand there is a problem with the spare tire.
The base Mini Cooper is a normally aspirated engine. The car handles like a go kart, but doesn € ™ t have a lot of get up and leave. Those of us seeking more pep in our car to go with either "S" version or update of John Cooper Works. The "S" is the most popular because it runs a little larger and provides turbo power. The John Cooper Works provide a more updated PEP but the cost is prohibitive. Most people choose between the basic model and "S" because of this.
The Mini is known for its unique character. One of the aspects that need to be aware of involves the spare tire. The basic model has one under the rear of the car. The "S" version, without however, has no spare tire. None. Nothing. Instead, it runs on a set of run flat tires. As the name suggests, these tires are "Run Flat "50 miles or less, which gives much time to find a tire store. Why the difference between the car models? Mini was apparently save weight. The lower weight, the faster the car.
Drivers tend to love or hate the run flat tires. I stand firmly in the hate department. Drive Mini is all about the acceleration when going into the corners. The run flat tires feel like you're driving in a little unstable, which is often described as marbles. Worse, these babies cost a pretty penny. You may end up spending $ 1,000 to $ 1,300 in a tire store to get replacements. That'sa lot for a car Mulla $ 25,000.
Those of us drivers who hate Mini Run Flat "often replaced with" real "ones. This makes that for a better trip, but also comes with its own set of problems. The first is that it has a spare, so what do if you get a flat? You can buy a tire and emergency spare tire for more than $ 200, but then you have a second problem. The powers that be in the Mini designed the exhaust pipe in the "S" running through the center of the car instead of to the side as the base model. This effectively means there is no place to mount the spare tire in the rear of the car as the base model!
So what are you doing? Some people simply create a spare mount behind the rear seats. Others, like me, just buy a can of fix a flat moment when it is sprayed into the tire through the air nozzle. This tends to ruin the tire, but getting a new one is still cheaper than buying the temporary spare tire or race.
So should you buy the base model or the "S"? Well, most feel the power of the improvement that comes with the "S" worth every penny. If you go this direction, just make sure you think on the question of the tires.
