Why does my 2002 mini cooper S chime once, then the outside temperature gauge light blinks a couple of times?
it's intermittant, no apparent reason why it would do it, but I thinks she's trying to tell me something.
Usually, around 4 deg C/39 deg F the temp display warns of possible frozen road hazard, accompanied by the chime, a limited-time flashing display and sometimes the snowflake symbol.
It reappears at every engine start-up.
It's trying to tell you to be extra careful while crossing bridges, shaded areas or tunnels where ice may have survived from the last below-freezing-point temperatures.
